It reminds me of an essay every time I read it, The Rise of Dawn is actually inspired by a girlfriend leaving, whom I had bought matching rings with. To be honest, I am not sure what message I was trying to send, hopefully it helps you see the world a bit differently, or at least entertain you. Enjoy.

The Rise of Dawn

The sky was especially dark this night with not a cloud to conceal the stars or the moon. It was debatable of which was more precious. Was it the moon, the stars, or the girl? I am afraid of what awaits me within the dreams of tonight, I shall therefore stay until the sun rises again. I have taken much for granted, but none so dear and infatuating; Rage has blinded me of the beauty and happiness that has escaped my grasp. Crippled, the open window will give me advice. There is a choice in front of me, make amends or to continue alone. Both paths shall have more forks to face, the next choice may be overwhelming.

I cannot recall what was said just hours before, if it was bad, or cruel. What if it is too late? I can see the first glimpse of the sun beginning to rise, along with it is a car coming closer to my home. I slowly approach the door, paralyzed if I should open it. There is a knock. I do nothing. There is a second knock. I slowly open the door, it is her. She hands me a ring and returns to her car, I can only stand and watch her drive away. After a minute of waiting I took a look at the ring; it is the one given to her with her name engraved. I have lost her, but she did not look in pain to give the ring back. Has she come to realize the monster I am? She was always so smart and brilliant; My beloved, my Dawn…
