Counting and counting

who has the time

Such a sandy metronome

these moments fall away in

ticking, trickling

tickling

counting, falling

 devouring

collecting, amassing

nothing

but its own self

emptied, self contained

full once more

waiting from the action of reversal

relying upon another

starting anew

sequence of it's own events

reset

watch it all disappear

who has the patience

to wait and see

Like a candle made of dirt

  dancing untamed

 Waiting for the hand

of a next one

to rekindle it's eternal flame

Always winding back time

unchanged

Unable to find the sweet relief

of being extinguished

outnumbered and out of time

watch it all collect

then flip it

as it asks of us

Trickling one grain at a time

the outcome only we can change

reminding us that nothing lasts forever

until we start over

again

Hoping to make something different

out of the thing

that has always been the same

 Keeping a record of things

we must figure out

For not everything

can be explained

down and back

to zero

forward and up

flipped over

reset
