The Law of Family

I am not coming back. I am too tired from trying to make sense of it all. My efforts go unnoticed and unappreciated. I have known that for a long while but returned as an act of respect.

I am angry now. Once I reach this point it is too late. You know this feeling all to well.

Pretending those who have offended you are dead. Letting decades go by with no efforts to repair the hurts. You have dismissed your siblings; one more should not make a difference.

You will just do what you have always done. You will continue with your distant ways. She will allow you to be this way. An eye witness and passive participant.

There have never been consequences for these behaviors. No law of relations. A distant look, a demanding tone, a personal attack  should be outlawed.

There is no crime to charge you with. Just the constitution of family and the misery of hoping it would be different.
