Affection

 

More than love our need for affection is greater and that we can get from friends family acquaintances and it is guilt free. In old age when the passion is gone, its affection that keeps a couple together. The power of affection is immense. Whereas romantic love can come and go, affection is a more steady and reliable emotion. Affection can be expressed through gifts, through verbal expressions of attachment , doing something nice and through spending quality time with another. Touch is a very powerful expression of love.  A hug speaks volumes.

One feels affection or fondness for an uncle who pampered you when you were young. The bond between physical affection and relationship satisfaction is a close one. Sex plays an important part in a relationship. Where that is missing, one can turn to others for affection and be satisfied. Even indulge in a little harmless flirting. Often for men, showing affection is more about what they do than what they say. Their ways of communication in love can be subtle. Affection is a guilt free cure for loneliness. One can connect to one’s community, strike up a conversation with a acquaintance and it warms up one’s heart. Over time the act leads to bonding and turns to affection.

How affection hungry are you. Next time you feel lonesome go out and connect to your neighbours. Give a genuine hug to a relative. Affection can be quite addictive and it enriches life. Increases happiness.
