This is just a fun, light-hearted villanelle that I wrote for Poetry class (I don't own any rights to the picture)

Villainous Villanelle: Typical Villain

Typical Villain, black silk and ascot,

he maps out his plan to kill and cajole;

long-winded speeches with such care are wrought.

Minions take orders and are henchmen are taught

that he is the greatest, opposers are “fools”!

Typical Villain pets cats and whatnot.

Center of his world, he thinks he’s so hot--

a joy to behold, but that’s just his view;

long-winded speeches slow down the main plot.

Tall nor imposing, he’s silly and squat,

he’s often quite rich and in envy you’ll drool--

Typical Villain has got a huge yacht!

Typical Hero knows Villain’s blind spot,

a trick that was learned back in Heroing School:

long-winded speeches give time to cut knots.

Hero escapes and our Villain gets caught,

unless there’s a sequel or movie part two.

Typical Villain, as bright as three watts.

Long-winded speeches should be rethought.
