Love is such a vague word. The semantics of love are very abstract and can very easily be attached to anything. In this case, the love is between someone and their neighborhood - particularly a not so pleasant one. The poem is still in the works, but the idea behind this piece of writing is to demonstrate the love people feel towards their community. I think this would resonate more with those of us who grew up in the inner city, and our neighborhood was the only thing binding us. And although many of us were told that our community was deplorable, we understood that there was beauty within it. The structure of this poem was purposely done to intrigue the reader by capturing the readers attention with the romantic-fiery love interaction, and then in conclusion realizing it was the love someone expresses about their community.

I know you better than you know yourself
To me you're more than a good time and a cry for help
To me you're love
To me you're stress
To me you're guidance to every step
To him you're war
To him you're hate
To him the lies you show is just a bait
Tell me how you plan to change me
Tell me how you think I'm crazy
Tell me how you're ashamed of what you see
Cause to me this is beauty from her head to her feet
You don't know what lies in between
These streets are filled with anger and poverty
If she could talk and if you can hear
She'll tell you "my madness is not mines, it's not real"
