An art model poses for any visual artist as part of the creative process, providing a visual reference for the human figure in a work of art. However, more than being simply the subject of art, models are often thought of as muses, a source of inspiration without whom the art would not exist. Art models are often paid professionals with skill and experience but are rarely employed full-time, and artists may also rely on friends and family to pose.

Claire was an art model, and this is how it all began. She met a young man at a coffee shop. She was instantly enamored but failed to even get his name. She would say about this encounter:

A few months later Claire met another man at the hospital where she was working. She was confused by the appearance of Joe, believing him to be the young man from the coffee shop, but eventually fell deeply in love with him. To "Meet Joe Black" again she went back every day at the coffee shop to make sure they were not the same man. She gave Joe a "Medallion". This way she could make sure if the man from the coffee shop was Joe. A few days later the young man of the coffee shop showed up and asked the waiter:

"A "Beer for My Horses" please."

The waiter looked stunned, but gave the young man what he asked. Claire had "Not Forgotten" him. She came over and asked him if he was Joe.

"You know "Another Me?!"

Answered the young man stunned. She told him about the "Medallion" she gave him a few days ago. He told her he was struck by multiple cars in what appeared to be a fatal motor vehicle accident as he left the coffee shop a few months ago. Since then he had problems to remember things as a consequence of this major trauma. She told him she was a doctor at the nearby hospital. She proposed him to check him up free of charge. The young man didn't quite understand why she would do that for him, but he accepted. They were instantly enamored and after they made love at the hospital, the young man asked Claire, "What do we do now?" She replied, "It'll come to us."

What would come to them? Art modeling. Claire became a doctor to please her father, Anthony, a billionaire media mogul. But her secret dream was to be a nude art model. She thought if she started with a beautiful man, she would feel less ashamed of her own nudity. She convinced the young man to go with her to the Register of Artists' Models (RAM), where some basic training was offered to beginners and membership was by audition – to test competence, not to discriminate on grounds of physical characteristics.

In the postmodern era, the nude had returned to gain some acceptance in the art world, but not necessarily the art model. Claire wanted to bring back the nude to the art model. She thought in today's society nudity was misjudged and confused with pornography. She thought society should see nudity as something natural and beautiful, not as something dirty to be ashamed of.

For a long time she didn't dare to start nude art modeling for some physical complex.

"If I had a great body, I'd be naked all the time."

She had a good body, but not a great body. Her main problem was about feeling confident about her body. With the help of Joe (the young man), she gained enough confidence in herself to make the first step. He was handsome and had a great body. It would draw the attention away from her, and the pressure too.

Claire used to live in London. Now she lives in Los Angeles. Why did she move?!

"I was always ready to leave England for some absurd reasons." "I'd come out to Los Angeles for a vacation to see a friend and just fell in love with it."

She moved for love. What an absurd reason!

"The weather in England can really darken your spirits." But "Sometimes I miss the spirit of London, but it's a very gray place."

Claire has a dark side. It shows when something darkens her spirit. A love deception? No! A very gray place, a very great place.

"I'm lucky I had parents willing to be open and believe that an 11-year-old might know what she wanted to do. Or maybe they thought I'd find out that's what I didn't want to do."

Be a doctor! "Playing doctor" with Joe led to nude art modeling. You can start with something you don't like. And maybe it will lead you to something you like.

"So, goodnight Claire. Do you realize that you love the unknown man, not him. Cause Joe Black is dead... I mean, Death."
