Cry Myself To Sleep

I cried myself to sleep last night,

but things – well, they’re just fine;

I mean they really have to be

when put in to a rhyme.

The pain I feel, it can’t be real,

is that what people say,

because my mind will link it

and compose it with some sway?

Nothing really matters now

for I know I’ll never win;

I’ve made my bed, I’ll lie in it,

a turmoil outside and in.

I don’t know quite where I belong,

I know it’s not this place;

if I really have a home

it’s somewhere out in space.

My language skills are next to nil

when it comes to speaking,

if only I’d remember that

then silent I’d be keeping.

The only time I’m happy,

when I’m safe from all the harms,

is when my imagination floats off

and it summons up your arms.

My confidence is gone now,

self respect is less than zero,

for there’s no escaping from the fact

that I’m my anti-hero.

So yes, I’ll put it in a rhyme,

that does not make it less than true,

does not mean that I’m not floundering;

I don’t know what to do!
