my muse is growing restless
from her failure to inspire
she hasn't sparked the embers
that would resurrect the fire
.
hell hath seen no fury
like a woman, spurned, when smitten
i sense impending danger
for the poem i have not written
.
my skin begins to prickle
and my hairs stand up on end
i feel like i'm in limbo
with no power to transcend
.
as if i am a baby bird
that's tortured by a kitten
i may soon pay the piper
for the poem i have not written
.
i must accept the challenge
take the bull right by the horn
i shall not risk distractions
till my masterpiece is born
.
though feeling rather shy
just like a character, twice bitten
there's peace on the horizon
for this poem i've finally written
