Been awhile, so I thought that I'd see if I still had it.

When we’ve lost the best parts of

ourselves

Like our books drawing dust upon the

shelves

That no one picks up anymore to read

To understand the reasons that we bleed,

that we bleed.

Well we can’t run and we can’t hide

For the worst of nightmares will find us

While we’re on our downhill slide

Demons will catch us and bind us,

and take us on a deep well of a ride,

of a ride.

The bottle seems to aide us when it’s full

So we slug the slow gin until it’s dry

It drags us down like a slaughtered bull

Then all we want to do is hope to die,

hope to die.

Well we can’t run and we can’t hide

For the worst of nightmares will find us

While we’re on our downhill slide

Demons will catch us and bind us,

and take us on a deep well of a ride,

of a ride.

The thrill we get from all those pills

As we stare blindly at the ceiling tiles

Sends us soaring over imaginary hills

Wondering where went all of our life’s

miles,

with all our smiles.

Well we can’t run and we can’t hide

For the worst of nightmares will find us

While we’re on our downhill slide

Demons will catch us and bind us,

and take us on a deep well of a ride,

of a ride.

The smokes we toked that got us high

As we sat while gazing at the stars

Didn’t have to far to fly

Laying on our bunks listening to Grand

Funk,

behind gray jail bars.

Well we can’t run and we can’t hide

For the worst of nightmares will find us

While we’re on our downhill slide

Demons will catch us and bind us,

and take us on a deep well of a ride,

of a ride.

When you’ve put the best parts of yourself

In Holy books drawing dust upon our

shelves

That no one picks up anymore to read

To understand the reasons that you bleed,

that you bleed, for them and me.
