A A A

underneath

?several sheets i wrestled with
?guilt
?she was a nasty bed mate
?smelling of skin and saliva; regret and thirst.
?she always flirted effortlessly,

tugging at my hair;
?stroking my spine.

?i was always naked with her
but clothed with
?you.
?

underneath

?several thick blankets
?my bed is still
?i broke free of her
?but have lost
you.

?sleep still doesn't come into my room
?but i hear he hasn't gone a night without

when he sleeps he is harmless
?but when he wakes
?he is sweet.

underneath

?several sheer curtains
light billows in
i try to ignore it
?but i still
wonder

?did i not know this would happen
?when i bought the cheap curtains

?or maybe i did know
?but i chose to buy them
anyways.
