Gentle lightning must have struck nearby
and I was whipped to consciousness
when thunder erupted from that sky.
As it rumbled, my heart still raced.

In my grandmother's bed--comfy--empty
I lay immovable despite unease.
The rain and thunder seemed distant from me.
Broken from my paralysis, I moved.

With no power in the quiet
All that remained was the echo
and still. My footsteps creek on the
cold wooden floor. So scared. Dim light.*GASP*

I bared my hands sharp to my face. aaaAAA
Yawp from my mouth slowly mounting
just as my shame of being left behind
Fallen to my knees, I began to weep

I run downstairs the door swings open
I hit my uncle out of relief. All fear gone from me.
As he laughs his tone shifts and he asks,
"If you’re a Christian, why are you scared?"
