You’re Fired!

It had come to President Drimp’s attention that his staff were not toeing the line. Not only were they daring to form their own opinions but they were coming out and saying them too! And that damn media – just sitting there waiting to make a mountain out of a mole-hill. Many times President Drimp wanted them to do that, but not when he was in any way the target. That, after all, was false; ‘fake news’ cooked up to make him look somewhat less of a true leader than he clearly was.

He called a meeting, a big one. The press would not be allowed to attend but HE would speak to them later, tell them exactly what was going on. None of this rumourmongering being carried out by poor deluded souls that believed themselves to know better. No, this news would come straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.

Now you all know who I am, don’t you! I am your President! The leader of your country.” President Drimp began pleasantly enough but those who knew him even a tiny bit knew just what was too come.

It has come to my attention,” he continued, “that some of you are daring to criticize ME! Some of you, indeed, are coming out, speaking to the press and openly condemning ME!  .”

The calm voice was beginning to break, being replaced by a mixture of petulance and anger.

I have heard it being mentioned that a lot of you are planning on making some display of defiance by making a massive scale resignation. This is not going to happen! Do I make myself clear? And how do I know that? Because you are all incompetent fools who cannot carry out the tasks I’ve appointed to you. You are ALL FIRED!”

There was a resounding gasp around the room. Some were shocked, but some, quite frankly, were relieved and only to glad to distance themselves from President Drimp.

As everyone left the room the president called to his secretary. “Have the interviewees initially tested to make sure they fully understand just who they will be working for. Anyone who will not blink when I tell them to, well, they can just go home.”

Now send in the media, so I can make it quite clear just who the incompetent parties were!”
