There’s a white sheet of paper on my desk.

A traditional 8.5X11 inches;

Covered in scribbles and notes that I don’t want to forget;

Be it work related or personal.

But to me,

the markings that stand out the most are the coffee rings.

I’m not a messy person and I wouldn’t want to stain my desk.

So, ring after ring gathers on my sheet.

Some have appeared due to stress, some, because of inattention.

But behind all the circles on my sheet, I see stories.

They result from an action which unfolded.

Brown crescents, and circles, spread across the page,

interlocking to form intricate patterns.

Their arrangements seem intentional,

but there are all accidental.

Not one was planned,

yet here they are staring back at me trying to tell their tale.
