How long can one hide from themselves?

I’ve lived in this world for far too long, to not hear the truth in song,

How do I function within my Mind?  What is truth Universal or Divine?

Somewhere, somehow through my own neglect, it gnaws at my mind, it destroys my intent,

I’ve learned the act, I’ve learn the play,

As I venture forth into the swarm each day,

Polite niceties leave my mouth, though I know their minds as their eyes cower down,

They’ve given themselves to their own survival, given their minds to attacking their rivals,

Not in honor as they could, choosing instead their shaded hoods,

Their hearts lost within themselves, like infants they meander through the world unfell,

Many sides of truth their lips to sing, which rings true for the simpleton,

Morality wains at their hands, their actions, their words, their inability to stand,

Heed this warning I should say, protect yourself for the demons who lay,

They wait for you this very night, every lie mixed with truth, your frustrations, confusions, their delight,

Easy is right, everything new, the wise man has seen many times this fool,

Age brings wisdom, and insight, patterns of history come to light,

All these lessons I’ve learned well, context is truth even in hell,

Morality flexible for most everyone, to sacrifice another to gain ground,

This very lesson, I’ve still yet to learn, vengeance reigns, my sword does burn,

The wounds I’ve taken from those I’ve met, I shall repay with every intent,

I haven’t forgotten, I don’t know how to forgive, think of me as your mind does spin,

As you lay awake this very night, ponder who comes to repay the plight,

The pain you caused, the ruin you bare, the actions you took, the words you neglected to spare,

At my soul you took from me, the innocence given once to thee,

I do indeed remember you, in this life or next, prepare your tools,

Sharpen your tongue, while I sharpen my blade, your immortality shall be made,

Oh how they will sing, as I unleash your every sin for all to see,

Your every flaw, your every lie, your every misstep for my delight,

Your tears themselves shall water the pure, your very essence given to ensure,

Oh yes, remember you shall, that you crossed me, every detail,

You’ve taken my peace as weakness, I’ll show you strength as Dragon’s breath,

Watch closely now, and mark the words, the date, the song, of the one unheard,

Ready yourself, bring your beautiful web of lies, watch closely my eyes, watch my lips untie,

An excellent poem of vengeance, J. Some things just can't be forgiven.

I just bang on the keyboard and whatever comes out, comes out Hull.

It has no personal bearing for me :)

unmasked delusions

It seemed to get more unsettling and intense the further down the page I got. And the last line was very eerie. Great mood and I could relate to a few lines near the beginning. You have a certain style and voice that I can't describe, it's kind of vintage in a way. I like it

Oleg Roschin

This is really well composed, and the steady emotional development, the intensity of the poem (which is by no means short) is quite remarkable. Very good work, Jason!
