Words Just Slip Away

Sometimes I find it really hard

To know quite what to say;

The more that I do think of it

The more words slip away.

I can’t trust myself to give them voice,

Or to let my fingers type.

The listener or the reader says

What a load of tripe!’

It’s not when writing stories,

Poems or essays,

They slip and slide away from me

when commenting, okay!

I want to say the right thing,

To express what I do feel,

words

I find is so surreal.

I’ll type out a comment,

Read it back and think ‘Oh, no.

If I cannot put it better

Then I’ll never let it show.’

Anxiety, it gets rampant,

I don’t want to say the same,

But there is one thing obvious

I’m clueless at this game.

So when I make some comment

That sounds a bit absurd

Be sure that I have liked it

Or I would not have said a word.
