Waiting for it all to end

Living for death,

One meal at a time

One sleepless night after another.

Waiting to die,

Under the dictatorship
Of a pay cheque.

Living for death,

Via a 24-7 workday

Unending transport expenses

Unending tax payments

Ceaseless wash loads:

Washed out

Dried out

Worn out.

Waiting to die,

As the clouds

Populate the sky.

They have purpose.

I have a ghost

Clinging to my side;

As I live,

Waiting to die.
