Lost Village

What a beautiful place

A walk in the sunshine

A place on the beach

Where wildlife is free

A trail made of wood

Over a marsh of of salt water

Its hard to imagine

This place is really here

At the edge of a city

That swallows up land

like a gull swallows a fish

Yet this place is here

some spots remain untouched

By the builders hand

Just a vision of the past

All of a sudden a wind begin to blow

And a cloud covers the sun

And winter is in the air

Off in the distance a small town

Once a fishing village

Hung up the nets a long time ago

Another small industry dies

At the hand of an ever changing world

The silt has filled the harbor

Boats are washed ashore

Shadows of the past

A broken mast swaying in the wind

Tall sea grass blowing in the wind

The imagination runs wild

I think I hear the sound of a boat

Returning from a catch

Who knows maybe someday

The grasses will be gone

And the small village

Will come back to life. The town of Alviso California
