Wow, this is a captivating prequel, Mazier. Your descriptions of the King's gradual descent into madness flowed very well, and I was swiftly pulled into the story. His descent, within itself, was also done splendidly. The king feared for the end of his reign, and to a certain level, for the well-being of his family, which is a trait that helps accented the human side of him. This fear, however, drove him to madness and murder, a tale of tragedy that went further as fate itself played out against him. A well written prologue that had me wondering what is going to happen next, good job!
