She wins by default; she gets you automatically, while I struggle to break the barriers barring me from your heart

She can be everything for you, and she’ll show you a million colors before picking the perfect shade to magnetize your eyes

If it’s personality you want, she’ll be your sister, friend, mother, or lover

Whoever you wish to see is who she’ll reveal, and you’ll adore her for it…and you’ll want her for it

Comparisons are worthless between she and I; never have I been so chameleonic

My colors are comfortably solid, dull and forgettable; I won’t appear to you exclusively in the midst of a crowd

When you happen to notice the background, I’ll be there in an obscure corner of the scene, just waiting to be found

I have an opinion, and I won’t change it to suit you; what I believe and who I am are never subjected to alterations

While she may sparkle, I only glimmer—and if you look away, I can be missed

You won’t find me catering to your whims or fulfilling your phantasmal dreams

I was born real and shall remain so; I won’t become a plastic model of a fantasy for your appraisal

She has the ability to be any and everything you could wish for to have…

But when your desires run low, and you can think of little else to require of her, you’ll find out how hollow she is underneath

All the dazzling smiles and felicitous words will then fade away like mist in the air

And once your vision is cleared, I’ll be the only one here, as all that I am and to you…what may be
