Taking Flight.

I creep my way out into the night,

For from this all, I’m taking flight.

All your words and all your threats

Will be long gone, I’ll soon forget.

I’m standing still, in blackness deep,

Ever watchful I will keep,

An owl I’m seeking, big and strong

To take me on a journey long.

He lands beside me, does not attack,

And lets me climb upon his back.

He spreads his wings and up we go,

Where we’re going, I don’t know.

He flies in circles, dives and swoops,

Always on in loop-the loops.

He does not flinch when I do cry,

So much pain, I don’t know why.

The darkness smothers, wrapped in black,

I’ll scream it out, not hold it back.

I have to trust him with my life --

Better than that verbal knife.

And now we’re landing somewhere new,

Wet and cold from morning dew.

Will it be better, time will tell

If in depression I still dwell.

The owl, he watches, blinks an eye,

He’s taking flight and I do cry.

Left alone with all my sorrow

Who knows if there will be tomorrow!
