A different yesterday

I want to feel the burn of hatred
In the very core of my chest
If it only makes me see differently from all the rest

I want to glimpse the slipperiest of shadows
If it only teaches me to look beyond what I've ever known

I want to hear the pain in your deepest thoughts
As they fall from your face in a torrent of tears and frustrated fears
If it only helps me feel like I'm really here

I want to hang from a thread
Too feet from the edge of the world that is bound to end
If it only helps me forget today
And appreciate better, the yesterday we let slip away

Today is the only tomorrow, that we can make into a different yesterday
