Open vastness is the air,

And I’m vulnerable to despair.

I should be happy is what they say,

I really wish it were that way.

Am I ungrateful as I’m told?

Is this the sickness that I hold?

Lonesome, dying as it seems,

Is this the valley of my dreams?

In melancholy trees do dance,

To match my soul that’s in a trance.

Praying for rain to wash away,

The heart that’s weak to my dismay.

I played a dangerous affair,

In secret now I must prepare.

And learn to hush the wails,

Before I speak and I will fail.

I am awake so this must mean,

It’s my reality and not a dream.
