I’ve done something wrong, I’ve made a mistake,

I was given a heart I swore not to break.

I don’t know what happened, forgive what I’ve said,

The pain in your heart, the words in my head.

I wish I could show you that I’m not unkind,

To have hurt you, I’m sorry, I’m losing my mind.

Pleading forgiveness while holding my breath,

What have you done, careless Lisbeth?

I left you resenting that I had to leave,

The fact that I broke you I cannot believe.

You are my everything, my safe haven, indeed,

And I hope that this letter someday you’ll read.

I promise I love you and I don’t know how,

I look in the mirror; I’m the heartbreaker now.

Careless and vain and now I lament,

I was angry inside to hurt you I meant.

And now you’re in mourning I caused your heart’s death,

Now look what you’ve done, callous Lisbeth.
