I was flabbergasted when I saw Smasher, it was as if I had won the lottery jackpot. I just couldn't believe it. There she was, shining like a star in front of me. Lost for words, I said softly:
''Smasher.''

From the day I saw Smasher, things in my head went loose. I was saying to myself, this can't be true, but it was true. Smasher was there in all her glory. Venus of the heavens, Selene in the night sky. They say sometimes you could be dreaming then you wake up to find it's not true. Smasher was standing before me, this was real.

For ten years a whole war was fought over Helen of Troy. If it had been Smasher, it would take many more years than that. Smasher was tall, just the height I'd like my woman to be. She was slim, blue-eyed with blonde hair. Smasher had it all, and it had me in a state as if I was dreaming, but I was aware of what I was looking at. Isis has nothing upon Smasher.

I said slowly, ''Smasher, you're really beautiful. I don't think there's anyone to compare with you!''
''Liar! I have seen many women more beautiful than I am.''
''There you go, putting yourself down. Did you look in the mirror properly? Are you saying that my eyes are fooling me?"
''Some of you men say things that are'nt true. Why didn't you ask me out straight away? 'You're beautiful' is getting stale. Try something new.''
''Some women like to hear it said of them that they are 'beautiful'.
''That's absolutely true. Some men go too far, and don't know what beauty really is.''

''Will you...I mean...Is it...''
''Yes, I will go out with you. I like you very much as well.''
''Did you...say...''
''I did!''
''Wow! Smasher, you're really a smasher!''
''Come on, let's go for a walk in the park.''

That was it. Smasher liked me. I got into her books. I don't think many others would have gotten that far. There's always a negative side when chatting up a girl. Sometimes it depends on who the girl is. She either let you know there and then or she keeps you guessing for a while. I always like tro know where I stand with a girl so that I'm not left in the dark. You also have to know when making your move--I mean, to hold her hand or put your arm around her--and letting her know that she's safe with you.

You also have to know when to approach for that first kiss. Don't rush into it. Don't force her. Give her time. In the end she'll let you know by either making the first move; and this is sometimes only a kiss on the cheeks. With some women, you'll be lucky if you get a kiss at all. They will go out with you for weeks, months before you even get a kiss.

We walked through the park enjoying the beauty of it. Stopping now and then and sitting on a park bench for a breather. It was very romantic and Smasher told me so. After walking for about five kilometers we went to a restaurant and had a meal.

It was around 10.30 pm when I took Smasher back to where she lived. ''Thanks for the lovely time. I really enjoyed it.''
''I'll come and take you out again,'' I told her, bravely.
''Oh1 That would be wonderful. I'm looking forward to it,'' Then she went indoors.

This feeling of love is fantastic. You feel like you're on top of the world. Back at home, I just sank into my bed and drifted away. I woke next morning knowing that someone would be waiting for me. We would look each other deep in the eyes, holding hands--this was love.

When I met Smasher again, we walked at the water's edge looking at the lights yonder. The sky at this time was filled with many stars. It was beautiful. We talked about where we would like to live if we actually got married; and how many kids we would have.
''How many kids would you like to have'?'' I asked her.
''I think two or three would be enough, don't you think so?''
''That's fine for a family,'' I said. ''Nature is so starnge we might end up having more.''
She stopped, looked at me,seriously. ''We won't allow that to happen.''
''Whatever you want, its ok with me.'' We started walking again.

It wasn't long before we got engaged and later married. We went to Santorini for our honeymoon.

END.
