You asked me not to love you…

As if this is my choice,

But when it comes to you…

My heart just has no voice.

I’ve become a fool; your own personal clown,

It’s as if to love you—forever I am bound.

I wish the days were longer…

And my nights not so obscure,

Time is not my medicine…

Because you’re my only cure.

Ask a child not to cry…

Or tell a garden not to bloom,

Can’t you see that I have tried?

There’s just no getting over you.

I may be alive and breathing…

But I’m way in over my head,

My strength is now depleting…

My heart is hanging by a thread.
