We fished from the shore my father and I,
It was so quiet bar the noise in the sky.
A Huey came near so close to the land,
That was the point I raised up my hand,
A salute to the crew a sign of respect,
I couldn't foresee what would happen next,
The Huey did land an airfield was near,
The chop of the blades so easy to hear,

But when it took off we both turned to stare,
As this wonderful aircraft climbed up in the air,
The Huey came round and hovered to see,
Then the pilot held still and bowed it to me,
They were mere seconds it was held there,
Yet the crew never moved till I met their stare,
The noise as they left just could not be bought,
A memorable time from Caernarfon airport.
