Your Presence Mocks

Oh, look at you, so beautiful,

so fresh and full of life;

just your close proximity

cuts me like a knife.

Your colors, really bright and fresh

while mine are now so faded;

you’re flaunting them before me

making me feel so degraded.

You flutter with vitality,

your energy unending,

while the effort of just standing here

is leading me to bending.

Those wings are moving rapidly,

you feel no strain at all,

while I am waiting wilting

for my petals now to fall.

The rot has taken root now

and my body has decayed;

it’s like some blatant insult

the way before me you parade.

Go and find another bloom,

show some consideration;

let me meet my death in peace,

the final degredation.
