By the shore and near the water, life is busy,

Deer drink, the Salmon run, life is good.

This years bounty is wide spread

So starvation's put to bed

At this river, near the stand of Cotton-wood.

A Bear is coming to the river, she looks hungry

Her two cubs trail behind, not too far.

The wolves are watching from their den

A Brunch of fish has done them in

So they lounge, just like drunks in a bar.

Here she comes --- the Skunk with her litter

She's teaching them to forage, as she should.

They will eat scraps of fish

Some slugs and snails, if they wish

For in this valley, near the river, life is good.
