A Ripple Of Wings.

They missed each other by chance, that little ripple of a butterfly’s wings that prevented them from ever meeting.

They could have been perfect together, could have had it all. A yin and yang of relationships if it had not been for one small happening.

He was visiting and old friend, one that he had not seen for years. He had never been to that town before and was never likely to be going back there again. About to get in to his car, he dropped his keys and stooped down to pick them up.

Any other day at that instant she would have been there, would most likely have walked right on in to him. They would have seen each other, maybe talked. The attraction would have been instant, mutual and totally undeniable.

She would have become the dark to his light, while he would have become the calm to her anger. Her confidence would have balanced out his shyness; he would have brought coolness to her heat. They would have complimented each other. They would have been perfect together.

But that butterfly fluttered its wings and she missed her bus for the first time in two years. The bus she always took, each and every day. She arrived thirty minutes too late for that chance meeting to ever take place.
