Alyra, a young fairy who spent more time beating up the boys of her village than being a hero, wanted a chance to save the world but instead may end up being the person heroes rose to stop. With
her body and thoughts controlled by an outside force, she joins a band of knights from around the world who must confront a cult trying to birth a demon of madness into the realm. Increasingly
plagued with visions of shadows and thoughts of violence, she must convince a golem, two ex-pirates, a priestess of love, a slick small-folk sniper and an obsessive-compulsive gunslinger she is not
crazy but in fact the right person for the job of ending the cult. A cult, by the way, who believes this demon is the one thing standing in the way of Alyra destroying the world.
