Because you’re unsure—you’re staring; though the truth, like a light, is glaring

In your face I can see the surprise, laid bare, mirrored back in your eyes

You never believed I would stay; it seemed only natural I’d slip far away

Out of the reach of your disjointed hands, scrounging for life beneath mountains of sand

With the world bearing down more and more every day, you start to implode from the words you can’t say

All the things in your head get messed up, confused, and you can’t figure out the right path you should choose

Once, long ago, you supposed you did know—but between now and then you turned backwards again

Not back to the past, but back to the wall you never broke down, or got over at all

Avoidance, it seems, was the course of the day; and you ignored your problems, and you stored them away

Now after the fact, you’ve lost all control; you’ve veered off the track, into a deep hole

What more could I do but follow you here, but wait till again your road became clear?

Because you’re unsure—I’m not going to hide; I’m not going to shut myself up inside

Because I am simple, because you’re surprised, I’ll tell you the truth, what I’ve realized

The way doesn’t change, we simply go blind, and we fumble around, and we waste precious time

If we keep it in sight, whatever is right, will not be unclear in the shadows of light

Because I am sure—you’re staring; you’re seeing the light that’s been glaring

So bright in your eyes, it seems a surprise, you never took notice or did realize
