On my grandmother’s porch

Staring at the sky,

Almost dosing off

On the floor that I lie.

She calls someone’s name

And the aroma of her food,

Always smells the same

And it brightens up my mood.

I soak it all in; the beauty of today,

Crisp October winds that I wish could stay.

And as I am lying there

Wind chimes start to sound,

The peace and the tranquility

That I did not get all year round.

Everything feels peaceful even for a day,

October winds are here but they’re not here to stay.
