The tiny man runs, he moves up, down, left, right,

Trying to win in the strong, hard fight

His struggles are weak, his chances grim,

Oh, how could something like this happen to him?

His knees are weak,

his future bleak,

The end is nigh and closing in,

His future's going down the bin.

The spidery fingers tremble and quake,

Unsure of the move to make.

Sometimes they hover o'er

A piece, but move it never more.

The smoke, the mirrors, all in place,

He's in moments arranged his face

It's clear to him the way to win,

Is con and lie, defeat them from within.

He tries to trick, almost decieves,

And a tangled web he weaves,

His opponent has been caught,

All their efforts are now naught.

Or so he thought.

The enemy, the hated one,

Always had the failure shunned,

He moved his pawn, just one space,

Suddenly the board fell into place.

He who tangled webs of lies

Sat there, cried and cried,

When he came to question fate,

The enemy smiled, and said: "Checkmate."
