Two Boats Adrift At Sea

Maybe that sounds really strange, but it works for me,

to look at us just like this – two boats adrift at sea.

It’s not a sea of water, although that’s sometimes how it seems;

the sea that we do drift in is one made out of dreams.

We might stay in our separate boats, but hey, they sure get near,

these moments are the very ones that I hold really dear.

But lately it has seemed to me, that there has been a shift,

that there has been a change in course, that you have gone adrift.

Please let it be the weather and not a change of course;

to meet up in this ocean, well, you, I’d never force.

Maybe my boat has shifted, and adjustment’s not to late,

for I cannot stay afloat without my very own soulmate.

The stormy winds will toss our boats, the waves will reach up high,

whenever I do leave you, it is with a saddened sigh.

But every night I find my boat, get ready to set sail,

and I’ll not miss a single one, that’s something I won’t fail.

If one night you do not show, I’ll know you’ve changed your mind

then I’ll just stay land-bound; another you I’d never find.
