I wonder what it’s like

To go on a hunger strike

What would pinch me first

Would it be the hunger or the thirst

When would my body revolt

When it misses the sugar or the salt?

Or the flavour of the morning on my tongue

That had any of moods swung

Would I be glad if I lost weight

Or is losing it just an added weight?

Would I admire the man in the mirror?

Or wish him back, just a bit meaner?

Would I know what it is I’m losing

Or do I gain what I need by so choosing

Will those who do my injustice see

The person they said I was was never me?

And if someone said ok, enough

We’ll just give you some of that stuff

You so desperately need, will health

Return fast enough for me to enjoy wooed wealth

Yeah, I’ll see what it’s like

It might seem that we’re a lot alike

Lack of things is lack of things

No matter what they tell me to count my blessings

Cause I imagine the lord in his big building

That little time on earth building shielding

Sorry if what I don’t have bothers your property

I owe myself something and it’s not your prosperity
