It Ends Here

She used to hover over him. She was right there for whatever he might need, ready for any command. She did this because she loved him and he loved her, you do whatever you can for the ones you love. He took over her life, making her a meek human for his personal use. When something wasn’t done “the right way” he would yell. She got so scared when he yelled. The words from his mouth were like knives to her soul. In her mind she did her best, always wondering why she wasn’t good enough, why her love wasn’t enough. He was an unhappy man, never satisfied with anything in life. Before him she was a whole woman, her friends loved her to no limits and she relished in life. She began to love him even know he had his flaws. She goes to bed now with hot tears running down her cheeks and staining her pillow. Every other night he threatens to leave; he uses her love for people against her, making her second guess herself. But tonight, was the last straw, it ends here. His hand connected with her skin, and that was where he went wrong with his game because that slap whipped away his spell on her. She no longer saw him as the charismatic man that had a hard time showing his love, like a blindfold being lifted, she realized what she let happen to her life. With new eyes, she saw him for who he really was, a monster. Adrenaline floods her muscles, her heart pumping hatred through her body. She’s tired of begging him to love her, she has tried everything to help him with no good outcome. This is their end. She forgot who she was, forgot that she was a woman that deserved the best and should demand it, forgot that she was a good person and loved people; and that you couldn’t love the unlovable. He was her monster in flesh and bone; out from under her bed and into her living life, draining her of Her. That is over now, along with the kiss of his fist, realization hit her and saved her. No more pleasing people, no more love wasted away on those who don’t deserve it. She was living for herself now, never anybody else, never again.
