Ophelia

Although you weren’t invited it seems that you are going to call,

we know that much destruction you hold within your thrall;

perhaps for once you’ll settle down, reign in your violent temper

and make sure that this visit will be one we won’t remember.

You like to roar your way around, flexing out that muscle,

setting us mere mortals into some kind of frantic hustle;

your temper likes to show itself, you lack all self-control,

and when you reach our shores you say that you’ll be on a roll.

The forecasters are revelling, and predicting so much doom,

a storm of such great magnitude, well, here there isn’t room;

you’re sure to set to wailing, giving voice to all your pain,

plucking trees up by their roots to fling them once again.

I’m hoping they are very wrong, that this is media hype,

that you have become calmer and are now more the kitten type.

But if you come in screaming, showing off some power

I’ll not be one to hide away, to find some where to cower.

Your visit will be very short, the effects might take a while

to clear up and repair but we will do it with some style.

Perhaps you’ll have a change of mind, show a sign of some remorse

and with your newfound sympathy will blow yourself off course.
