Await the Morning Light

She cried

He left

And after there was

Rain

then Rain Rain and more

Rain

Crushing pounding lost

and drowning

Quick flash

then came the lightning

left to follow the slower

child of thunder

its legs thick and impeded

crying she Abigail still

by the wood framed window sill

Abigail pained in her

Procrastination

Having let Ted linger in his insensitivity

created only more of the same

as the lightening split the sky and brightened the

light in Abigail’s descend shock and fright

no space for

depression

on such a night

recover and await the bright that

will be the morning light

knowing her decision is

right
