A A A

Almost didn't think of you today,

so close to a clean getaway

like a game of horseshoes or handgrenades.

But you rolled in, like a cold wind

to catch me from behind.

Thought you were gone from my mind.

Thought I was over and done, the battle won.

Thought I had closed all the doors

and the windows too,

boarded up the place, picked up and moved.

But I can't get away, can't put it down.

Something somewhere makes me turn around.

Just when I think I'll be ok,

Just when I am so close to a clean getaway

I almost didn't think of you today.
