This is a poem I wrote back in 2008 and have keep all these years. I was going through some not so pleasant things in my marriage at that time and one day I was sitting up thinking about despite it
all, how much I still loved my husband. That lead me to thinking about the word love itself in terms of being in a relationship. This poem is what I came up with based on my own feelings. Hope you
enjoy! Please comment if you can. Thanks.

What is Love?

What is love, is it something we can see, is it heartache and sorrow: what can it be?

Is it a flutter in your heart, or a gasp for air, is it a sorrowful time or a tender moment we share?

Is it how you look at me and how wonderful I feel, or it is when you don’t understand me and misery spins its wheel?

Is it when I’m happy and I think about you all day, or is it when I’m sad and wish you would go away?

Is it when we play with our kids and shares in the chores, or is it when we fuss and fight and don’t talk to each other anymore?

Is it when one of us is sick and we are there for each other, or is it when there is a miscommunication then we can’t stand one another?

Is it the fact that I’m very sensitive and I like romance, and you don’t show feelings very much, just being a man?

Is it how we both have dreams yet we struggle to make it through, or is it how we struggle together and to each other will always be true?

Is it all the things in life that makes hard times come our way, or is it all things in life that make happy memories for us to always share in the coming days?

So what is love, I really can’t pinpoint a precise answer, I guess it’s a mixture of all of the above like coins in a canister.

It’s the experiences and feelings that you share with your significant other, and to know that no matter what, good or bad, you will always be there to make them together for one another.
