The day Bobby brought a gun to school the sun was shining. The sky was blue, white fluffy clouds littering the sky. The golden glow of the warm sun spreading light and happiness across the country. The grass seemed greener than yesterday. The flowers seemed more colourful. The trees taller. The water bluer. It was one of those beautiful days that make you forget all of your problems.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school I walked to school with my little sister. As we walked she jumped up and down looking at butterflies, laughing, giggling, playing as all young children should. As we walked I held her little hand, keeping her on the hot sidewalk. As we walked she looked around at the beautiful day, and smiled the widest smile I ever saw in the world. She was only 6, and had no cares in the world.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school I did not say goodbye to my mother. I ate my breakfast in silence. I put everything I needed for school in my school bag. I put on my favorite denim jacket, and my favorite sunglasses. I grabbed my little sister's hand and walked out the door, without a glance back at my mother.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school I put everything in my locker and went to class. I greeted all my friends, and went into class, already excited to go home. I was sat in the classroom, hearing but not listening to the teacher talk when a bullet went straight through the teacher's head.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school everyone screamed. People were shouting, running towards the door. None of them fast enough to outrun the bullets. Students cowering under desks, pulling out phones to call the authorities. Pulling out phones to call the ones they love to say goodbye. The bullets rained down on the school, bringing destruction and pain to all.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school 114 people died. 50 under the age of 10. My little sister was only 6. Earlier today she had no cares in the world. Now she was dead. My innocent, sweet, naive, little sister lost her life, and she can never get it back.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school I lied on the cold, tiled floor of the classroom. My eyes were dry, but I was bleeding. A bullet had hit me. I lied on the floor, my life ebbing away and I thought of my mother. At work right now, oblivious of the fact that she no longer has any children. I thought of my little sister. I thought of myself. I thought of all the things I would never get to experience. I would never get to go to college. Never get to meet my soulmate. Never get to have children.

The day Bobby brought a gun to school I lost my future.
