I watch with mirth

, that sleepy town,

Snug and safe from the curious and macabre

They live like they have no reason to fear

, the night’s creatures,

But I know that they are wrong

There is plenty to fear in the dark

, when the pearl moon rises,

The devil’s minions come out in throngs

They wreak their havoc and stir mischief

, the little ones,

Causing a din like a banging gong

They tear a wicked streak of destruction and suffering

, the bigger ones,

Playing at their games until the first ray of the rising sun

Night after night, I stand atop this hill

, watching that sleepy town,

My lantern and broom by my side

Every night I hear the creatures’ screams

, the bigger and little ones,

Their mischief brings me pride

They now have reason to fear

, that sleepy town,

The creatures they shun and deride
