Blue Bird

A little thing,

likes to fly,

in the open,

way up high.

She twitters on,

loves to sing,

while travelling

upon the wing.

But then one day,

an angry cloud,

a hurricane,

here, not allowed.

She’s innocent,

caught so tight,

a tiny thing

in dangerous plight.

The wind batters,

throws her round,

soon she’s falling,

hits the ground.

Bruised and injured,

broken wing,

she’s lost it now,

the will to sing.

Her eyes are closing,

can’t go on,

no one will miss

her joyful song.

Too much pain,

too much strife,

she’s given up,

lost her life.

Feathers scattered

turned to dust,

her skeleton

well, now it’s crushed.
