As The Memory Fades

I can't get close to you

You seem so different

Like there's something in the way

__of me coming any closer

I don't know what it is

But something tells me I'm "not welcome"

As I try to analyze it

__I fail in ev'ry way

Watching us fade further away

As thee unending feelings gather up

I have no choice but to block them out

Leaving my memory in your car

__a sudden blur

How that hurts

How something so magical

__could be so over

But I'm clean and sober

And I cannot let you tempt me

I've tried to examine your features

To look for a way to see you as "ugly"

But you're just so "beautiful"

__that I can't see you in any other way

Yet, my love for you is disappearing

Just like the memory

Of such a beautiful feeling

Time has passed

And we never eloped

Never collided

__got close
