Pitfalls

Sitting waiting, often hidden,

lurking on that path forbidden;

holes now covered and dug deep,

waiting for your soul to keep.

Wandering down, head in air,

feeling like you’re free of care;

there it opens from the top,

in an instant, down you drop.

You kick, you scream, you plead and beg,

take back all the things you’ve said;

never wrong – there’s not one lie,

but repercussions make you cry.

Everything turned upon it’s head,

warped and mangled, so misled.

How to miss those vicious traps

when, from your eyes, kept under wraps?

You walk, you talk, just make your way

until those pitfalls plague your day.

Once you’ve fallen, seems you’re stuck,

on your own – deserted luck.
