Pastel Hue

I’m on the search for sweetness,

looking for something ‘nice’;

a sugar-coated powder keg,

or a similar device.

I’m looking for some color,

some rainbow pastel hue

to chase away the greyness

that’s clouded up my view.

A softly turquoise blanket,

a lemon yellow shroud,

a piece of candyfloss that’s pink --

no, that is not allowed.

I’m looking for some comfort,

something ‘feel-good’ in this world,

to make a break from darkness,

this black in which I’m hurled.

I’ll find a pink marshmallow cloud,

and into it I’ll sink,

and from that cup of pastel dreams

I’ll take a good long drink.

The shadows will be lifted,

I’ll hear the sound of birds,

a tinkling of laughter

and some very gentle words.

It doesn’t need to last that long

but a break, it sure is needed,

before exhaustion brings me to my knees,

all sanity receded.

So let that rainbow fill my dreams,

let the despair thaw,

let me take some comfort

before greyness strikes once more.
