Goodbye…comes like the rain; it’s sudden, but not unexpected, not unforeseen in the gray patterned sky

Goodbye…sinks in like the cold; hits the surface and goes all the way down

You can feel it inside your chest, tightening the cage of your ribs

Goodbye…feels like a bruise upon the lips; it stings like fire, and burns like ice

It doesn’t heal with a kiss, nor does it get easier to bear—you simply must learn to deal with the pain

Goodbye…seems like forever, like an empty eternity; the permanence of it lasts throughout death—cannot be erased from the heart or the mind

Goodbye…is being left behind, being rejected, forgotten in time

It’s the end of a passage, cut off too soon; the snip of a bud unlikely to bloom

Goodbye…is a curse, a friend to despair; it lingers around and thickens the air

Goodbye…is not welcome, no one wants to see…the finale of all that once was, but won’t be

Goodbye…tastes like the rain, mixed with salt, warm blood from your veins

Goodbye…sounds like thunder—a glass falling down, a world torn asunder
