There was a 13 yr. old girl, named Emma, who has always been into science. One day, she wanted to know if she could make a robot that was very lifelike and grew from a teenager to an adult. One day during science class, she asked her teacher if she could take some things out of the science lab, and if she could go home and make a lifelike robot. Her teacher said yes, during class she left to go to the lab. At the lab, she gathered utensils to make the robot, put them in a bag, called her mom, and asked her to come get her. When her mom came, she was waiting at the door, ready to go! When she got in the car, her mom asked her why she had to come to pick her up. She explained the whole situation, her mom agreed. When she got home she took the objects from the bag, and she put them in her room. She had a science lab in her room, so basically her room is a science lab with a robotic looking bed randomly in the middle. She took the stuff out of the bag onto the table. She got to work! That day she got done making the head. The next day she woke up, and felt sick. So she stayed home and worked on the robot, she finished it! She was so happy!! She brought it to school the next day, because she felt better, and showed it to the class. The robot thought on her own and had her own conversations with everyone, the robot’s name was Ava. After a few weeks, Ava became the big sister Emma never had. Ava helped her on homework, they talked about what was going on in their lives, the boys they liked, they even talked about why Emma was depressed, of course they only talked about this when she was even more down in the dumps than usual. Then one day Ava signed up for school, she was always made fun of at school, being called, robot girl, computer, hacker, and a cheater. She was kind of used to it by now, she aced all of her assignments, and all of her tests. She was in all of Emma’s classes, they always talked, and they always got in trouble. They were always together at lunch. The people that were always mean to Emma now all of a sudden acted like her best friend. She hated how they acted. As sad as it would be, she had to either: destroy Ava, or she had to leave Ava home everyday, and everywhere she went. She chose to leave Ava home. After she chose to do that, everyone bothered her, asking her where Ava is. Finally, after a week of that, everyone figured out that she’s not coming back. Everyone kind of left her alone. Until one day, a new kid came to school. Emma tried to be his friend, but everyone else tried to MAKE him be their friend. After at least 2 weeks, everyone calmed down about him. They all assumed that he was really nerdy. One day, I caught him sitting by himself at lunch. I went up to him and asked “Do you care if I sit here?” “I don’t care, as long as you’re not one of the people that make fun of me,” he answered. “I’m not,” I say as I place my tray down on the table beside him. When I sit down, I notice how skinny he is. I don’t mention it. A week later, I keep sitting beside him at lunch, and I hear rumors going around that he’s skinny because of his depression.
