Mirror of Distortion

It wasn’t what I was looking for, this mirror that was cracked,

but something drew me to it, kept on tugging me right back.

I knew I had to buy it for it would not let me go,

it didn’t mean me good things, that I sure did know.

I fixed it up upon the wall, tried hard to turn away,

but it’s distorted images held too great a sway.

It showed me many monsters, so many bad things by my side,

too many broken demons that here did reside.

The room became a different one, beyond my recognition,

I needed to just run away but could not get permission.

It misted up, began to fog, the reflection spun around,

I could not find myself no more, lost not to be found.

It spiralled and it twisted and it warped the image well,

made the world all upside down as far as I could tell.

When the fog began to clear, no longer was I me,

and there stood some strange demon, on the left of me.

He smiled a grin of evil, one that spoke of hate,

when I saw what he did hold it really was too late.

He reached around and grabbed me, and with that sharpened knife,

he laughed as I fell to the floor for he had stole my life.
